There is a folder named “class” which is present in path install_pathveritasnetbackupdb, it backs up all the policy related information of the master server. Each enabled policy on the master server is present with a separate directory. Refer the below snapshot for reference.

It is very useful when you have to use same policy parameters in another master server. You just have to copy that policy folder to the same path on the another master server.

It is also very useful when accidentally a policy is deleted and you don’t remember the various attributes of that policy. In this scenario the following steps can be followed to recover that policy.

    1. Open the BAR Console on the master server.
    2. Select File -> Specify Netbackup Machine and Policy Type. Under the “Server to use for backup and restores” choose master server hostname and under source and destination client choose the master server hostname as well. In the field “Policy type for restores” choose “NBU-Catalog”.Select the policy to restore from the restore window by expanding down the path install_pathveritasnetbackupdb. For e.g in this case it is ASC_DC02.
    3. Select the policy to restore from the restore window by expanding down the path install_pathveritasnetbackupdb. For e.g in this case it is ASC_DC02.
    4. Now restore the selected policy. After restoration the deleted policy can be again viewed in the Netbackup Administration Console -> Netbackup Management -> Policies.
